TRAVELfusion, a London based pioneer in e-commerce trip planning and comparison shopping, and Nextres, provider of Internet-centric reservation systems, have integrated their revolutionary technologies to create a powerful web distribution platform using

This new integration creates a new platform for booking fares and other value added services using an Open Travel Alliance compliant XML API. These services are offered to Nextres’ customer base, which currently includes 14 Nordic airlines and tour operators.

Nextres develops pioneering reservation technologies based on and for the latest platforms, and its core technology allows easy access to the airlines’ centralized database of travel intelligence. TRAVELfusion’s technology, TRIPplannerXML, provides a sophisticated, aggregated search for multi-modal trip planning intelligence.

By integrating the two, Nextres and TRAVELfusion have created the ultimate search/comparison combination, this being a robust algorithm with reliable sources of data, which produces results of consolidated information, packed in XML technologies, ideal for agencies and online travel applications.

“The importance of the successful integration of these technologies is that for the first time the providers are presented with a cost effective solution that will reduce distribution costs by up to 80%,” says Niklas Hanell, Chief Executive Officer of Nextres. “By utilizing most current technologies such as J2EE and XML, the integration provides a reliable solution that reacts in real time to changes made to the core data of the provider.”

As more travel agents and travel management companies need one simple application to sift through the mass of information available on the internet, TRIPplannerXML appears to provide a user friendly and coherent information consolidator, which aggregates web fare searches through its automated access to travel suppliers’ real-time web content (DirectConnect).

“This is the next step in the evolution of online travel search and distribution. It provides a complete solution to the travel industry, which compliments other current technologies,” adds Moshe Rafiah, Chief Executive Officer of TRAVELfusion.

“The viability of these new technologies increases in the long run, firstly, as it complies with Open Travel Alliance specification for new standards, and secondly, these technologies are extremely flexible and easy to shape to suit the growing needs of both providers and market.”
