EntradaUtah.com, a provider user-contributed destination travel guides, has introduced a new concept in Internet travel information that combines user-contributed “wiki” content with commercial tools to help tourists jumpstart their vacations.

The company says, initially focused on popular attractions like Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks, the EntradaUtah.com site is “poised to provide the most up-to-date, reliable travel information by harnessing the collaborative “wiki” model, in which any visitor is able to create and update pages in the website.”

By allowing travelers to correct out-of-date or inaccurate information on-the-fly, EntradaUtah.com can avoid inaccuracies that persistently plague traditional print and Internet travel guides worldwide, says the company.

“Unlike other travel “wiki” sites, however, EntradaUtah.com provides commercial tools to help visitors start their vacations. Currently, EntradaUtah.com allows visitors to reserve hotel and motel rooms in every major Utah travel destination. In addition to providing factual editorial content and commercial trip-planning tools, EntradaUtah also allows visitors to post commentary about places they have visited on each page’s “talk” section. This important feature allows other travelers to distinguish worthwhile attractions from waste-of-time ones, enabling the most efficient use of valuable vacation time,” added the company.
