Online travel agency Expedia.com has come up with “Free Nights and No Fee Flights” promotion.
It offers travellers their last night free on stays of three, four or five nights at over 700 participating hotels worldwide.
As part of this promotion, Expedia.com is also waiving booking fees on all flights booked on or before May 31, 2009.
“A silver lining for consumers amidst the current economy is the incredible value available in travel right now. In some popular destinations hotel rates are down by over 20 percent,” said Tim MacDonald, general manager of Expedia.com.
While the Free Night offer is valid for bookings and travel by May 31, 2009, Expedia.com is currently featuring deals for bookings made by April 9, 2009 for travel through May 15, 2009. Additional deals for bookings made on or after April 9 for travel by May 31, 2009 will be posted soon.
As per the information available, the move put pressure on Expedia rivals including Orbitz Worldwide Inc., which saw its shares fall more than 25 percent in Wednesday trading, falling 52 cents to close at $1.50, and Priceline.com Inc., which saw its shares fall nearly seven percent, dropping $5.34 to close at $75.94. Expedia shares rose in Wednesday trading, rising 3 cents to close at $7.08.
