lastminute.com has become the first online travel agency to sell UK rail tickets. The online travel and leisure retailer, also a retailer of Eurostar's cross channel train service, has added UK domestic rail to its site.
It said the initiative "makes it the only place on the Internet where the complete holiday travel experience - from the customer's home town to the hotel, around resort and back home again - can be booked."
lastminute.com is the launch partner for rail specialists Raileasy's UK rail booking engine. The system, which took two years to develop, is fully accredited by rail industry body Association of Train Operating Companies.
lastminute.com's UK rail booking engine bundles single or return journeys and can offer customers saving of up to 80 percent.
lastminute.com UK Managing Director John Bevan said, "Customers are now able to book the best priced rail deals available, as part of their entire holiday experience on lastminute.com, starting with the domestic train to international travel and then the car hire for the journey to the hotel."
