Thomas Cook (India) Ltd. has appointed Amitabh Pandey as the President and Head for the launch of its e-Business.

Thomas Cook (India) Ltd. has appointed Amitabh Pandey as the President and Head for the launch of its e-Business.

Pandey will be responsible for redesigning and setting up of the TCIL’s travel portal.

The proposed TCIL’s travel portal will be a virtual one-stop-travel-shop that will allow customers to choose from its complete range of travel solutions. This will include an expansive database of travel packages on domestic and international destinations, worldwide network of hotels, network carriers, low-cost airlines, travel insurance and promotional schemes.

The company stated that its entry into online segment will be backed by TCIL’s strong brand equity in the brick & mortar segment. The company will leverage its present strengths in B2B and B2C space along with existing relationships on the supplier side. The proposed portal will be a window selling complete range of products in TCIL’s portfolio including holidays, insurance, travel solution and tickets.

Madhavan Menon, Managing Director, Thomas Cook (India) Ltd. said, “We are trying to reach around 28 million active Internet users through this portal. The Indian online travel market is expected reach a size of around US$ 2 billion mark in 2008 and we aim to be a significant player in this segment.”
