Internet’s largest publisher of travel deals Travelzoo’s Canadian publications now reach more than half a million subscribers.

This represents the total number of unduplicated subscribers to Travelzoo’s Canadian Top 20 list and Newsflash e-mail alert service.

“Surpassing the half a million mark to our Canadian publications after just over a year is a huge achievement and we are very proud of the success we have had in Canada,” said Ralph Bartel, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Travelzoo.

A recent survey (the company’s subscriber survey in May) of Travelzoo’s Canadian subscribers revealed that:

- They are frequent travelers: 48 percent have travelled three or more times in the past year and 43 percent expect their leisure travel to increase in the next 12 months.

- They plan to travel internationally: 87 percent of Canadian subscribers have passports, compared to 50 percent of the general Canadian population, and an astounding 96 percent are planning on travelling internationally within the next 12 months. When asked what destinations they plan to visit in the next 12 months, 31 percent plan to travel to Europe, 29 percent said their decision will be based on the travel deal, 28 percent plan to visit the Caribbean or Mexico and 19 percent plan to travel to Florida.

- Half of Travelzoo’s Canadian subscribers are aged between 45 to 64 years of age, 62 percent are married and two-thirds are female.

- Travelzoo’s Canadian subscribers are well educated and have discretionary income: 70 percent have a college degree or greater. 50 percent have a household income of C$75,000 or greater and 30 percent have an annual household income of over C$100,000.

- Their decisions are influenced by what deals they have seen on Travelzoo: 60 percent of subscribers that purchased an offer they saw on Travelzoo were not planning to go on a trip but found the offer was too good to pass up.
