Wotif.com Holdings Limited has posted a record profit after tax of A$27.6 million, a 34% increase in its half year profit.
The Wotif Group processed $562 million in travel bookings. This is the first time the Group has achieved accommodation bookings over the half-billion dollar mark in a half year (for the six months to 31 December 2009).
The Wotif Group's portfolio of brands sold 3.7 million room nights (a 22 percent increase) and achieved a 16 percent increase in the number of flights booked.
Wotif Group’s MD and Group CEO, Robbie Cooke, said that the Wotif.com business continues to gain momentum.
“More and more consumers are deserting the old world `bricks and mortar’ travel store and discovering the value, convenience and ease of booking online with Wotif.com. We now get more than 7.5 million visitors to our network of sites every month and are making more than 315,000 bookings monthly,” said Cooke.
The company’s operating revenue for the 6 months to 31 December 2009 was $69.690m, up 19 percent on the prior corresponding period (H1 FY2009: $58.598 million). Accommodation revenue was up 18 percent and revenue from flights and other was up 39 percent (H1 FY2010 $6.008m; H1 FY2009 $4.329m).
