Accommodation website Wotif.com has introduced a new feature that offers consumers better rates with the trade-off being that they won’t know ‘Wot Hotel’ they are booking.

According to the company, which sells accommodation online in over 40 countries, the “Wot Hotel?” feature is reminiscent of the days of the Mystery Flight and is an ideal option for those who love a surprise. While customers are shown the star rating and general location of the property in advance, they will only know the exact hotel once they have completed their booking.

Wotif.com’s COO, Robbie Cooke, said: “The Wot Hotel feature is a win-win for hotels and consumers. Hotels get to drop their rates without affecting the way people perceive their brand and consumers get even better deals at great hotels.

“We have had a good response from our hoteliers who are offering some great rates in both
city centres and regional tourist destinations,” he added.

For those wanting to take a spontaneous winter break, the deals are easy to find - highlighted
in black on Wotif.com’s predominantly green grid of deals - and are available at properties
throughout Australia, as well as internationally.

“These deals suit people who want to take a break but don’t mind which hotel they stay in, as
long as it is a certain standard and in the right location,” said Cooke. “People travelling internationally can also book a Wot Hotel if they are comfortable enough with the destination to leave the hotel name to chance.”

The site attracts almost 2.5 million user sessions, with customers making over 160,000 bookings through its 28-day booking window.
