Asia Pacific: the world’s fastest growing travel region in numbers
From outbound travel to rising mobile numbers and rapidly increasing digital travel sales – and digital spend - this diverse region cannot be ignored
Spanning around 50 countries with diverse languages and cultures, Asia Pacific cannot be viewed in a ‘one-size-fits-all’ fashion. Whereas hotel occupancy rates in 2015 may have risen in China, for example, in APAC overall they are down. Also while the wider region may be home to over a third of the world unique mobile subscribers, in some of the most populous countries, penetration rates remain fairly low. And though Internet penetration in cities may be high, it’s a different story in rural areas.
But even with a slowing Chinese economy, there are plenty of opportunities, not least in India, which in 2015 witnessed the fastest e-commerce growth rates in the world. In less than two-weeks EyeforTravel will be in Hong Kong for The Smart Traveller: Digital Strategies Asia, but if it’s too late for that join us in Singapore for the Asia Pacific Summit (June 15-16)
