Brand new stats from Cleartrip reveal that mobile is the word in India

If you weren’t focusing on mobile in India before, now is the time

The mobile channel continues to surprise. Cleartrip, firm that has just had its best quarter to date, recently released some interesting stats. Searches rose by 67% during the quarter, while transactions were up 69%. What’s more, today mobile stands at 43% of overall traffic, with 30% of transactions coming via mobile.

The firm has made several upgrades to its mobile app in the past few months including the ability to cancel and amend a booking, something the 20,000 consumers surveyed in EyeforTravel Mobile in Travel series have identified as high demand.  While this feature is useful for flight & hotel bookings, it is especially so for trains, where cancellation penalties are low and availability is restricted, says Stuart Crighton the company’s CEO.

Interestingly hotels as a category grew most significantly in the mobile channel (92% quarter on quarter) and better still, conversions were at a similar level to the desktop. As EyeforTravel keeps highlighting – mobile is no longer for the last-minute!
