Budgetplaces.com is promoting its new iPhone application in cooperation with Barcelona-based electronics retailer Dows.
The free iPhone travel app can already be downloaded in five languages (in English, Spanish, Italian, French and German) in the iTunes store.
Designed for use on the move, accommodation can be booked for the same night or up to 12 months in advance through a scrolling system.
“Travel habits are changing, gone are the days when you had to book months in advance for a short trip,” said John Erceg, managing director at budgetplaces.com. “People are now taking more impromptu breaks, looking for a short weekend to soak in the culture and attractions of cities. This app is designed to make this as easy as possible, helping them to save money on hotels and spend more on having fun.”
Budgetplaces.com aims for a target rate of €30 per person, per night.
The online travel company is a part of the EnGrande network and is based in Barcelona. More than 16,000 reservations are processed every month and EnGrande websites register more than 1.2 million hits per month. The forecast turnover for 2010 is €60 million.
