Comtec Group Limited has acquired tour operator content management company Comnet Canada Inc (Comnet). Comnet will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Comtec.

Comtec Group Limited has acquired tour operator content management company Comnet Canada Inc (Comnet). Comnet will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Comtec.

The company has made its fourth acquisition of 2008 as it focuses on widening its international footprint and distribution capabilities for the leisure travel industry.

Comnet, which started business in Ontario in 2000, gives travel agents the ability to search for and book packaged holidays and charter flights offered by the major tour operators in Canada.

"Canadian travel agents are in desperate need of an alternative tour operator content distribution system, and our deal with Comtec will give them the option to choose the distribution tools they need, not the ones they are told to use," said Rick Cannon, president, Comnet Canada.

He added, "Comnet has always had the right technology for today's industry but, until now, we have lacked the resource necessary to take on the incumbent tour operator content distributors. Comtec will provide that resource as well as bringing us the most extensive portfolio of leisure travel distribution services found anywhere in the world."
