Justtheflight.co.uk, a part of UK's Online Regional Travel Group (ORTG), has launched a global flight search and booking facility for smartphones, an initiative described as a first in the mobile travel field.

Justtheflight.co.uk, a part of UK's Online Regional Travel Group (ORTG), has launched a global flight search and booking facility for smartphones, an initiative described as a first in the mobile travel field.

justtheflight.co.uk/mobile is a web-based application which allows users to search, book and pay for flights through their mobile phone.

Initially, justtheflight.co.uk/mobile flight bookings will be in English and can be paid for by credit card. There are plans to introduce a corporate version as well as multi currency and lingual options shortly.

Brian Kelly, chief executive, ORTG said: "The use of mobile Internet through devices such as the Blackberry and iPhone is exploding. Mobile is the PC of the future; improved speed and falling costs for downloading data makes searching and booking flights a viable, quick and convenient option, breaking the tie with the office or home PC."

"Being first to market means the opportunities are endless. The company has several major joint venture deals on the go. Full details will be released over the coming months. ORTG has been accepted as a Blackberry Alliance Partner, which gives the company access to product, development, marketing, training and sales support," added Kelly.

Justtheflight.co.uk currently books over 40,000 seats through its website per annum.

ORTG was formed in 1982 and currently employs 65 people in the Isle of Man, Guernsey & Jersey with annual sales in excess of £40m.
