GuestLogix Inc. is gearing up to offer on-board retail management and enhancement solutions to Asian carriers.

John Devins, Director for GuestLogix in Asia Pacific, will spearhead the company's efforts in the region.

His role will include overseeing all channel relationships, sales, marketing, and business development, as well as coordinating on-board sales programmes with airlines. Devins, based in Singapore, will also work to identify key merchandising partners – such as entertainment and duty-free providers – to broaden the variety of products and services airlines can offer passengers in-flight.

"In this current economic climate where costs are up and passenger numbers are on a decline, airlines globally as well as in Asia, are hit hard. They are increasingly looking at other sources of revenue and on-board retailing is one of them. This is where GuestLogix can help," said Devins.

In March 2008, GuestLogix announced its first Asian partnership with AirAsia X, a new long-haul budget carrier owned by a consortium including AirAsia BHD and the Virgin Group. This partnership sees the implementation of the GuestLogix Mobile Virtual Store to help power and grow AirAsia X's on-board retail sales of its food, drinks, merchandise and in-flight entertainment on a user-pay basis.
