Location-based information service provider Wcities, which had announced availability of Pocket CityGuides for more than 100 cities for download onto PDA or SmartPhone earlier, has identified mobile content as a growth area for the company.

Sharing plans exclusively with Eyefortravel.com, Fraser Campbell, vice
president - business development, Wcities said, "(Wcities' focus in near
future is going to be) advanced mobile products with location base
services."

On mobile content's strength, Campbell said, "Mobile content is with you
all the time, the mobile phone is a part of a lifestyle, by your bed, in
the office, in the car, everywhere. You might as well glue it to your
hip, pocket or purse. Giving access to relevant information at the right
time is important, when the consumer demands he is going to get it, if
not from you, someone else will provide it."

And on limitations, Campbell said, "Limitations are cost of data usage
on the phone networks, coverage in some respects, customer habits, and
the ability to stand out in the crowd from all the other offerings."

Earlier, Wcities had released Pocket CityGuides. The CityGuides have all
the Points of Interest including restaurants, events, hotels,
attractions, theaters, bars, nightclubs and shopping. Each Pocket
CityGuide comes complete with state-of-the-art mapping and directions,
including turn-by-turn and street-by-street details provided by gate5
with their smart2go application.

Already the users have the option of downloading guides to their
SmartPhone or PDA, users can access an entire city and find anything and
everything they want to do in the city.

As part of its mobile services, the company allows users to access the
Wcities site anywhere on the wireless web. "Now browse all of our
content online on the go. Find a restaurant, and connect with one click
and make a reservation, then SMS the restaurant to your friend. Don't
spend money on directory assistance, find out the phone number, address,
and review on your phone," says the company on its site.
