TRAVELfusion is giving e-commerce application developers access to its patented travel search and trip planning platform – TRIPplannerXML.
According to the travel search and trip planning technology company, TRIPplannerXML features fares from over 200 travel suppliers including low cost carriers, charters and scheduled airlines as well as leading hotel consolidators and chains and car rental companies. Websites can easily integrate the most comprehensive travel content to enhance their web applications and increase their revenues by adding new functionality.
The company added that developers will also be able to take advantage of the many features offered via TRIPplannerXML such as supplier total trip cost/duration, door-to-door trip planning, and single search for all modes of transportation.
Moshe Rafiah, chief executive officer, TRAVELfusion, said the company expects APIs to have the same impact as the introduction of mapping APIs had last year.
“For the first time web developers have access to a huge number of air, hotel, car, rail, ground transport and ferry travel suppliers with geo coded data and all powered by the most powerful travel search engine available today,” said Rafiah.
TRAVELfusion’s content and search tools are all available via XML APIs and have been integrated with leading e-commerce travel companies.
According to a recent Google whitepaper, the number of mobile users researching travel via their mobile devices is expected to grow 51% in 2012.
IN-DEPTH: If rail is to become truly international, the technology that facilitates and standardises the search, booking and fulfillment process will need to have the kind of reach that a global distribution system can provide, says Thomas Drexler, director of Rail, Amadeus.
