Following their move last month to include email and unlimited mobile internet usage on their monthly consumer price plans Vodafone are now going further. Beginning today in King’s Cross station, London they will launch an intensive marketing to push consumer usage of the mobile internet.

The travel themed campaign – with the main slogan ‘Travel the mobile internet’ – will cover major train stations across the UK as well as shopping centres and events throughout the summer. Mobile internet advisors will be on hand to show consumers how to use email on their phones and take advantage of the mobile internet.

Vodafone UK director of consumer, Ian Shepherd said: ‘This is a bold programme of advertising and marketing which we hope will help people see how easy it is to use your mobile to do even more than just text and talk.

‘The mobile internet is a powerful tool and what many people don’t realise is that it is easy to set up and use. The campaign will feature a great deal of variety to help people see how the mobile internet is relevant to them as an individual.’

Coupled with this bold move is an increasing number of travel companies using mobile to foster loyalty amongst their customers, wrapping them in a convenient service. With consumer adoption snowballing and devices finally making aspirations become realities the time is now for mobile.

Bringing together the key mobile innovators is Mobile Technology in Travel 2008 taking place on 11th November at World Travel Market in London’s ExCel. The conference will bring together leading travel brands such as British Airways, sabre and WAYN as well as key mobile companies like Vodafone.
