Kuoni Group chooses Peter Rothwell as its CEO

Peter Rothwell has been appointed as CEO, Kuoni starting 1 January 2009. Until the end of 2007, he served as the Deputy Chief Executive of TUI Travel Ltd. and as a Member of the Board of Directors at TUI AG.

The group shared that its total transaction value grew 285% from £44.1 million to £169.9 million. Turnover has more than doubled from £19.2 million to £38.5 million, gross profit has grown 184% to £20.6 million and underlying profit for the year before tax, goodwill amortisation and the impact of FRS20 (Share based payments) has increased by 256% from £0.9 million to £3.2 million.

At no point has the overall strategy been subject of these divergences," stated the company. "During the past three years, the Group successfully realised its growth strategy in the premium and specialist travel market through internal growth achievements, as well as a number of acquisitions in Europe and emerging markets."

Transat's profit declines in 4Q, posts record net income in full-year

Earnings for the quarter ended October 31 amounted to 23 cents a share, compared with 39 cents per share a year ago, shared the Montreal-based company. Excluding the impact of certain non-cash, non-operating items, net income would have been $10.4 million or 31 cents per share.

TUI Travel operating profit up 5% YoY

It was shared that the Specialist sectors' pro forma underlying operating profit increased by £34m (up 36%) to £129m (2006: £95m). Also, acquisitions of niche specialist businesses with a maximum consideration of £227m were made during the year (£151m cash paid during the year) with the acquisition pipeline remaining strong.
