On 20th May, four of the most innovative travel industry start ups took to the stage at EyeforTravel’s Distribution Summit in London to take part in The Get Funded Show. Mentored by Travel Gurus such as Dick Porter, Gerry Samuels, Hugo Burge and Steve Endacott they pitched to an audience of investors, press and industry experts in the hope of taking home the Get Funded Show crown.

On the day there could only be one winner and it was Zoombu with their door-to-door journey planner that took the glory. Their innovative website searches across all modes of travel to find the fastest, cheapest, or even most carbon friendly route.

The other finalists were Travelwhere? With their online brochure distribution channel; Joobili’s inspirational booking engine; and Tourdust, the travel website and community for locally-sourced tours and holiday. The calibre of start up was inspirationally high and even though they didn’t win, runners up walked away with essential advice and international exposure at the world’s biggest meeting place for online travel. Not a bad boost for any start up!

Following on from The Get Funded Show’s success and in response to overwhelming interest form travel entrepreneurs keen to show off their innovation The Get Funded Show will be taking place at this year’s World Travel Market.
