Social travel site gtrot.com has teamed up with Local Offer Network (LON) to send “hand-picked deals” from sites like Groupon.

The new offering from gtrot.com, an offering that makes travel more social by helping users share travel plans and experiences with Facebook friends, is titled gtrot Deals. Users are being offered gtrot Deals in more than 100 destinations in the US, Canada, Australia and the UK, beginning five days before their trip.

The company says there is no need to sign up. The partnership enables gtrot.com users who have shared their upcoming travel plans to receive curated local deals for the cities they will visit during their trip.

Travellers will receive a list of the top daily deals on each of the five days leading up to their trip, with new deals each day. Once the trip is complete, gtrot users will automatically stop receiving gtrot Deal alerts, eliminating unwanted emails.

These deals are selected from deals aggregated each day by Local Offer Network’s DealWire platform, which indexes, categorises and organises deals from across the web.

“This partnership integrates three of the most pervasive online pursuits: travel, social networking and deals,” said Dan Hess, CEO and co-founder of Local Offer Network.

For its part, gtrot says its plan is to make trip-planning cheaper and way more social.

“When you add a trip on gtrot, we already provide immediate social context about your destination- friends who have been there, friends who live there, and friends with overlapping travel plans. With the launch of gtrot Deals, we now help you find great activities and events and save you big money in the process,” stated the company.
