TUI introduces data integration platform to support First Choice merger

Published: 05 Dec 2008

The UK and Ireland division of TUI Travel has reportedly implemented a data integration platform to enhance operational efficiency following the merger with First Choice.

The system, provided by Informatica, is being used to consolidate sales and stock information across the two companies, and has allowed the creation of a data warehouse offering improved visibility into its sales cycle and enhanced provision of sales and stock data and product prices, according to Computing.

Leigh Ashton, application architect at TUI Travel UK and Ireland said that the group needed to understand how many of the products and services were being sold and at what price. "Of course, this information was stored in a range of different systems and bringing it all together manually just didn't make sound business sense. We decided to build an enterprise data warehouse in order to give us an enhanced level of transparency into the sales cycle, to ensure that this process is being managed effectively, and we are maximising our productivity."

The same report added that TUI Travel is considering extending the use of the platform to other operational systems to gain more insight into business performance and popular products, and to generate market intelligence to support its sales department.
