WAYN will soon be unveiling its new look as the travel and lifestyle social network adds a new dimension to its current service offerings by combining travel with a new vertical focus in lifestyle.

According to telegraph.co.uk, WAYN believes “it can muscle in on Twitter’s turf by focusing on one area of online social interaction that existing networks don't do particularly well: letting people share their future plans and aspirations”.

Peter Ward, one of the co-founders, said, “The idea is that you can effectively plan what you are up for doing in the future. So you can talk about what you are doing this evening or that you are up for going snow boarding or up for learning a language. It will be a micro blogging platform like Twitter but it’s not about what you are doing now.”

“From a social networking paradigm, if you know that one of your friends is up for going to Brazil in July, you might want to join them, give them tips or put them in touch with friends. There’s a lot more reason for engagement.”

The report added that through its new initiative, WAYN will create the sort of word of mouth buzz that could catapult it onto the top table of social networks, leaping from around 8m individual users each month to between 15m and 20m.

Other than adding a new dimension to its service offerings, the portal also recently acknowledged that it is also working on its main navigation.

“Looking at analytics, it is clear that the overall site usage is too complex to most users - the taxonomy on the toolbar is challenging and the overall design cluttered. Thanks to the feedback received from many users, we will be facilitating an environment much easier to interact in, and we strongly believe that many of our services will then start becoming a lot more apparent to most users, driving more usage and time spent within the community,” the company stated in a posting on its blog recently.
