BookingBuddy to distribute travel deals

Travel comparison search site BookingBuddy has launched BookingBuddy Deals Network to distribute targeted travel deals and promotions.

In doing so, the company, operated by Smarter Travel Media, has launched a targeted advertising channel for online travel suppliers.

Launch advertisers include Expedia, Priceline, Hotwire, CheapCarribean.com, Cheapoair.com and others.

The Deals Network provides deal suppliers access to over 23 million deal shoppers per month across a network of travel sites (Comscore Media Metrix July 2008).

Christine Petersen, CMO, TripAdvisor said, "Finding great deals is one of the top priorities for the millions of travelers that visit TripAdvisor each month. Featuring BookingBuddy Deals allows us to give our travelers relevant and timely deals at a time where price counts more than ever."

We at NileGuide (www.nileguide.com) really like the team at Smarter Travel. While we don't yet work with them, we believe the "Deals" space is an attractive one that has not been effectively served in the Web 2.0 world, and is complementary to our offering, since it appeals to opportunistic travelers. Ultimately, we see the distribution of transactional opportunities under a media business model as being consistent with our theory about where the online travel space is going.
