Microsoft has tied up with online travel company Expedia to launch a version of Internet Explorer 8.

It is being hoped that the new customised browser will really help users “enjoy a faster, easier and safer browsing experience than ever before”.

According to a report filed by PC Advisor, the Expedia version of the web browser features customised Webslices that allow web users to access content on the Expedia website without needing to open new tabs and search. Last minute deals, weather reports and a currency converter are among the Webslices available. Web users can also download the Expedia Holiday Countdown gadget so they know exactly how long they have to wait until they go on holiday.

“The new Expedia.co.uk version of Internet Explorer 8 has been designed to provide intrepid travellers with the information they need, with enhanced security and safety features that help protect travellers from the threats they face online,” said Julia Owen, Internet Explorer product manager.
