Online travel itinerary and trip planning service TripIt has shared that more than 100 developers have already signed up for the TripIt API in the first 30 days since its launch.

The TripIt API, according to the company, is the first and only way for applications to access a traveler's complete travel itinerary regardless of where that travel was booked. With the TripIt API, third parties can access travel itineraries using Web 2.0 technologies.

The company cited expense, mobile, and social networking as few examples that rely on travel itinerary data, and these are the first apps to launch with the TripIt API (www.expensd.com, www.approposmobile.com/flighttrackpro, www.whereivebeen.com).

Scott Hintz, co-founder and VP Business Development at TripIt, said, "Like with Apple's iPhone, opening the platform to third-party developers results in a variety of applications that help make the travel experience better, and that's really what TripIt is all about."
