IBM has selected TripIt and LinkedIn as their first two application widgets to be part of their Lotus Notes platform.

TripIt and LinkedIn applications can each now be opened via single sign-on right from the Lotus Notes desktop screen, enabling and simplifying the management of travel and business networking for millions of workers worldwide.

Notes is the first open collaboration software to be able to provide users with desktop direct access by both LinkedIn and TripIt, said Kevin Cavanaugh, vice president, Messaging and Collaboration, IBM Software.

Scott Hintz, vice president - business development, and co-founder, TripIt, said, “Bringing TripIt directly to the Lotus Notes desktop now makes it easier than ever for millions of business travelers to keep their travel in sync with the rest of their professional lives.”

TripIt is an open itinerary platform, and this strategy is driving partnerships with companies like IBM, LinkedIn, Microsoft and Plaxo.

“We’re trying to make it as easy as possible for travellers to access their travel plans no matter where they book and no matter where they are online or in the world. The open TripIt API we published this year is part of this strategy, and many top web and iPhone apps, like WhereI'veBeen and Flight Tracker, have already integrated with TripIt,” added Hintz.
