Travel content publisher NileGuide.com has acquired travel recommendation site 10Best.com from Enveritas Group for an undisclosed amount.

The development follows NileGuide.com’s acquisition of travel Q & A site Localyte.com last year.

NileGuide.com offers by-locals-for-travellers recommendations and free itineraries covering what to see and do, as well as where to stay and eat. This offering is handled by NileGuide’s contributing editors, known as NileGuide Local Experts. Additionally, through the Localyte acquisition, NileGuide.com provides visitors with the unique ability to receive answers to their travel questions from locals living in over 75,000 destinations around the world.

10Best.com, known for its strengths in restaurant and attraction recommendations, features additional original content on the best hotels and places to shop in the world’s top cities.

Plan

The company completed a $3.5 million round of funding last fall. KPG Ventures, Tenaya Capital and Austin Ventures all participated, along with some angels.

“The funding will accelerate our run towards becoming the world’s leading provider of great recommendations “for-travelers-by-locals.” We’ll be more deeply integrating the Q & A functionality we acquired with Localyte last Spring within NileGuide and expanding our global stable of Local Editors who provide up-to-the-minute info on the cities where they live. We’ve also integrated “Ask a Local” functionality across all pages of our site, showcasing the best of our 100,000 NileGuide community members around the world,” said NileGuide CEO Josh Steinitz.

In addition, the company simplified its design and functionality. The company says it has chosen to hide tools and functions that seemed too complex. It has also partnered with Hotelicopter to provide real-time hotel pricing and cost comparison.
