As part of its ongoing strategy to increase holiday sales, Harvey World Travel (HWT) has joined forces with Comtec to roll-out the leisure technology supplier’s market leading agency management and leisure travel selling systems; TravelCat and EasySell.
The agreement between HWT and Comtec will see the travel agency group’s call centre and existing 25 retail branches, along with 300 further branches it plans to open nationwide, adopt Comtec technology in a million pound investment. The systems will also be implemented at HWT’s planned out of town travel superstores.
Comtec TravelCat is the UK’s market-leading agency management solution with over 23,000
users connected. Comtec EasySell, which searches both late and full-season tour operator
availability, will be integrated within HWT’s new point of sales system, used by over 200 users
across the group’s retail network.
HWT’s decision to implement both agency management and selling systems from Comtec
means travel bookings will be automatically passed between front and back-office systems,
thereby significantly reducing administration times by removing the need for HWT staff to rekey
reservations data.
John Donnelly, HWT’s Managing Director, said “We intend to work closely with Comtec on a
number of exclusive projects to further enhance the system and tailor it to our long-term
requirements”.
As part of its evaluation of the system, HWT conducted tests to certify the operational and
performance benefits, compared with its existing and alternative UK market solutions.
According to HWT, a key factor behind its decision to adopt TravelCat was its ability to reduce
administration times by streamlining processes across the group. The company says it chose
EasySell for the system’s productivity–enhancing functionality and customer service focus,
the ability to integrate the solution with its existing point of sale system, and the system’s
proven ability to handle high volumes of transactions.
Melvyn Taylor, HWT’s IT Manager, added “TravelCat and EasySell have a proven track
record of success. By allowing all our availability to be summarised in an easily accessible
format, we expect this latest technology to give us a strong commercial advantage in the
price-conscious early booking market and improved flexibility as we enter the lates market”.
