Octopus Travel has become the preferred supplier of Internet booking solutions to Australian Harvey World Travel.

As per the information available, appointing Octopus as preferred supplier is a first for Harvey World Travel and follows a previously successful relationship, which saw the companies undertake joint promotions and incentive schemes, under the guidance of dedicated Octopus Account Manager David Smith.

On formalising relationship with Octopus Travel, John Donnelly, managing director, Harvey World Travel said, “We are keen to partner with like-minded companies, as we demonstrated in our alliance announcement with Virgin Holidays and the synergy between ourselves and Octopus is fantastic.”

Octopus provides bespoke services, developed in partnership with Harvey World Travel, including management information reports, a valuable tool enabling the company to track the numbers of reservations that are made online. This service has enabled Harvey World Travel to monitor each of its branches’ progress with the development of a league table, offering its staff further incentives to work more pro-actively. The league table also allows Harvey World Travel to reward and troubleshoot accordingly, resulting in enhanced performances from its branches. In addition, Octopus offers Harvey World Travel a co-branded PC screen especially designed for public view.

Octopus also operates an efficient commission process offering Harvey World Travel and its additional travel agents instant commission. “Over £20million of travel agents’ commission goes unclaimed each year and our commission system ensures that agents receive their fee instantaneously,” said Patrick Lukan, UK country manager, Cendant Corporation.

The agreement follows the announcement that Harvey World Travel is to partner with Virgin Holidays in an aim to create the ‘next generation’ of British travel agent with a network of 300 dual branded high street stores.

Last month, Australian accommodation and travel group S8 tied up with Virgin Group to launch a new chain of specialist travel agencies across England. The plan will create a network of 300 high street travel agencies, with 100 to be opened in the near future. S8 will initially use its recently acquired Harvey World Travel network, which opened 26 outlets in England about 12 months ago. The first of the newly rebadged shops, trading as “Harvey World Travel, the travel professional for Virgin Holidays”, opened in Stafford in the north of England.
