Since the planning steps for the foundation of the MODUL University Vienna are well under way, there are 4 academic staff vacancies in the Department for Tourism and Hospitality Management as of August 1, 2007, and 3 further vacancies commencing August 1, 2008.
Required qualifications:
- Final degree or diploma in Social and Business Sciences, in Information Technology, or in Natural Sciences or about to finish one of the fields of studies mentioned before
- Exceptional ability to quickly master new software and apply its full range of capabilities
- Flexibility, organizational talent, and ability to work in teams
- Excellent written and spoken English
Anticipated fields of activity:
- Teaching responsibilities in lectures and seminars (language of instruction: English)
- Organizational assistance for graduate (MBA) and undergraduate courses
- Participation in general university administration
- Public relations including maintenance of the department's website
- Library management and support activities
- Supervision and support, helping students to put theoretical knowledge into practice
- Administration of hardware and software resources
Working hours: 40 per week - 50% of that time is dedicated for research and PhD studies (e.g. at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration, tuition fee will be covered by the MODUL University Vienna). Remuneration: EUR 25.000/year (gross), which includes lecturing in one course (2 hours per week) in the first year. From the 2nd year onwards, candidates are expected to lecture 4 courses per year which is commensurate with an annual salary of EUR 32.800/year (gross). Further compensation can be granted for additional lecturing activities.
Working location: MODUL University is currently built on top of a scenic mountain overlooking Vienna (Kahlenberg; see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kahlenberg). The university will provide capacity for approximately 500 international students by 2009.
