InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has shared that Alexi Hakim will become Chief Operating Officer for the UK and Ireland from 21 May 2007.

Hakim replaces John Bamsey who on 1 April took over the Dubai-based role of Chief Operating Officer for the Middle East and Africa for IHG.

As Vice President, Full Service Operations North America, Hakim is currently responsible for the overall performance of the Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza managed estate in the United States and Canada. In the last four years, he has been instrumental in overseeing the opening of the first two Hotel Indigos in the US as well as establishing a strong foothold for the Crowne Plaza growth strategy.

Richard Hartman, IHG’s Managing Director EMEA said the company is confident that, under Hakim’s leadership, “the team will be further incentivised to meet our development targets of adding 50-60,000 new rooms in three years.”
