HRS to take over majority of hotel.de

Hotel portal HRS has decided to take over 61.6 percent of the shares from the founding holders of worldwide hotel reservations service, hotel.de AG.

The company will now own 64.6 percent of hotel.de AG.

Hotel.de AG, located in Nuernberg, currently serves more than four million private and corporate customers worldwide with its stock of 210,000 hotels. Hotel.de AG will continue to be managed by its existing team as a standalone company at its existing locations as it expands its German hotel.de and international hotel.info brands.

HRS, a hotel portal for private and business travellers offering more than 250,000 hotels in 180 countries, stated that the takeover further signals HRS’ development in Europe. The website attracts approximately six million users per month.

Earlier this month, Hotel.de shared that in the third quarter of the 2011 financial year, the company generated commissionable net booking volumes of €103.71 million. This figure, corresponding to the volume of “new orders” received, also for subsequent months, in the quarter under report, thus grew year-on-year by 22.5 percent (Q3 2010: €84.65 million).

The company benefited in particular from the sharp rise in domestic booking volumes by 24.3 percent to €60.58 million (Q3/2010: €48.73 million). International booking volumes showed further stable growth of 20.1 percent, amounting to €43.13 million (Q3/2010: €35.92 million). The international business accounted for a 41.6 percent share of total booking volumes (Q3/2010: 42.4 percent).
