Secret Escapes appoints Alex Saint as CEO

Secret Escapes has appointed Alex Saint as CEO of the company. Saint moves from Dealchecker where he also held the CEO position.

Secret Escapes has also secured a second round of funding. The company declined to share financial details regarding the new funding. It is being reported that the funding is going to support major new marketing initiatives to the tune of £5 million in 2012.

Since the launch of Secret Escapes in January this year, the website has attracted 750,000 active users. It is currently doubling turnover every three months.

The company believes it is important to have a clear positioning and also a precise understanding of how can one buy from the company.

“I think it’s important to have a clear position that explains why a customer should be on your site rather than an alternative provider. In our case, saving up to 70 percent on boutique and luxury hotels explains what we do, and importantly what we don’t do,” says Secret Escapes’ managing director, Tom Valentine told EyeforTravel’s Ritesh Gupta in an interview earlier this year. “We need to be strict with ourselves and make sure that everyone who visits the site understands that we are the UK’s best source of discounts on luxury travel.”
