bmibaby is reporting a rapid increase in the number of visitors to its website in January.
According to the airline, in the first week of January (1st to 6th January 2009) visitors to the website have increased by 70 percent, when compared to website visitors in the month of December 2008. In fact, in order to cope with the extra traffic to the website, bmibaby had to increase the size of its website bandwidth by 25 percent.
The airline is attributing the development to its 50 percent off flight sale and a new advertising campaign. The airline is currently offering passengers up to 50 percent off flights to every bmibaby destination from Birmingham, East Midlands, Cardiff and Manchester Airport, for travel up to the 24th October 2009. Bookings must be made by midnight Tuesday 13 January 2009.
bmibaby has also just launched a brand new campaign, designed not only to convey the low price message, but also to emphasise the joy of flying. As part of the campaign, bmibaby has revealed a new look for the airlines spokesbaby, Tiny, who has undergone a complete makeover for 2009.
Julian Carr, commercial director, bmibaby, said this shows that people definitely have the appetite to travel in 2009 and want to snap up a bargain break.
On the new campaign, Carr said, "We wanted to reinvigorate the low cost airline industry and inject more personality into the marketplace. By refreshing Tiny, we can make people notice us even more and make sure we stand out from the crowds. Our new campaign with Tiny is going to put the fun back into flying and inspire people to getaway during a gloomy period."
