Travel Ad Network (TAN) has become the exclusive sales representative for advertising inventory on Skybus.com, the website of Skybus Airlines.

According to an official release, with this tie-up, the recently launched Skybus became the first US-based domestic airline to take outside advertising on its website which is used to transact reservations, ticketing and other travel-related bookings.

TAN will offer advertisers an opportunity to reach in-market travelers with display advertising, integrated offerings built into destination content as well as confirmation pages and emails which “offers powerful opportunities for tourism boards and local attractions to help consumers plan what to do on arrival.”

The release shared that in April the site served more than 11 million page views to over 500,000 unique visitors (comScore) even though the airline didn’t begin to operate until May 21. In the first three weeks after launch, Skybus sold more than 250,000 tickets.

Cree Lawson, Founder and CEO of TAN said, “Skybus offers travelers a unique value and we expect to see its site traffic soar as it quickly expands to additional cities. It is no secret that vacation and business travelers are a highly sought after audience. This is a rare opportunity for advertisers to reach travel shoppers while they are in a purchasing mindset directly on the Skybus site.”

Chase Cunningham, Director, Ancillary Sales for the airline said Skybus will generate additional revenue by selling advertising space inside and outside its planes and charging for priority seating and checking bags.

“A very large part of our revenue plan is advertising income from our website,” said Cunningham.
