Virgin Atlantic has launched its global travel community site vtravelled.com. The airline has launched its new social media channel for people to share their travel knowledge and aspirations, and contribute to a new, online environment.
“We knew we could fill a large gap in the market by creating a community, which shared and discussed travel positively and creatively,” said Steve Ridgway, chief executive of Virgin Atlantic.

Research from EyeforTravel clearly highlights that social media is becoming an increasingly important marketing channel for travel brands. While search engine (29%) and email (28%) still lead the way, social media (20%) is fast playing catch up.
