Go Travel Direct is redirecting budgets previously allocated to catalogue design and printing to continue to enhance its website.

The largest direct-sell tour operator in Canada says when it comes to Internet travel bookings, Go expects 80 percent of this year’s bookings to be over the Internet, up from 65 percent in 2005-06.

In addition to the advantages of online reservations, Go Travel Direct customers save by buying directly from the wholesaler (tour operator), with no travel agent commissions. The strong Canadian dollar also allows the company to offer low prices.

“Once the industry standard, printed brochures and catalogues are becoming passé,” said Hugh Boyle, president of the Board of Directors, Go Travel Direct.

“Our research indicates that 95 percent of GTD customers currently use the internet to shop for their vacations. Our website www.gotraveldirect.com has become the preferred sales tool. Unlike traditional catalogues, the Internet allows us to be instantly up to date and in touch with the public who are becoming their own travel researchers and travel agents,” he said.

Go Travel is offering affordable European Air + Hotel Packages with departures from Montreal to London and Paris. All Go Travel Direct’s vacations include flights aboard Zoom Airlines, a sister company.
