Travelocity has launched a site for Mexico, marking the entry of online travel company’s first Spanish language site in North America.

The site (www.travelocity.com.mx) will serve the growing needs of more than 20 million people in Mexico who have Internet access. According to the company, with 40 percent of Mexican Internet users having made online purchases to date, 46 percent of which were travel-related, the new Travelocity site offers a trusted name and secure means of making an Internet purchase.

“The number of Internet users in Mexico is increasing quickly, and we have already seen a large number of people from Mexico making purchases on the Travelocity site in the United States,” said Bryan Estep, VP of Travelocity Mexico. “It was a logical step to create a site specifically designed for consumers in Mexico, and is in keeping with our broader global expansion efforts.”

The site is currently in both Spanish and English, but is expected to be fully in Spanish in 2008. And, customer service is provided by Spanish-speaking agents via a local toll-free number.
