The Board of Web Reservations International has appointed Feargal Mooney as Chief Executive of the company with immediate effect.

Mooney joined WRI as Chief Operations Officer in 2002.

Feargal succeeds Ray Nolan who founded WRI in 1999 and who will remain as a board director.

The board also announced the appointment of Fintan Drury as its new non executive Chairman. He succeeds Paddy Holahan who has been Chairman of WRI since 2002 and who will remain on the board as a non-executive director.

Privately held and headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, WRI has representative offices in Shanghai, Sydney and New York.

According to local media, the latest developments have fuelled speculation of a stock market floatation, although the company played down expectations of an early move.

Mooney, according to sbpost.ie, said: "We are always making plans and building the infrastructure of the company for any opportunities - whether that's a trade sale or a capital market event. We have the infrastructure and management in place for whatever event that might be. We always want to be ready for when the time is right."

According to Mooney, the company was targeting Asia following the opening of an office in China. The company also wants to increase its revenues from advertising on its websites, which attracted 83 million visitors last year.
