The free Friday video: Starwood on app strategy and why mobile is mandatory

With mobile users only engaging with a few of their phone’s apps, this may not be for every hotel but if you’re going to do it do it well

Perhaps unsurprisingly, in Miami in May Glenn Stress, Director of Digital, North America, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, kicked off his talk with a reference to the Marriott merger. It had been, he said, “a fun six months”. However, he also said that when it came to aligning the two companies digital strategy not a lot would happen before the merger officially closed. In the meantime Starwood would remain focused on improving its own mobile user experience. Why? Because mobile is now mandatory and it is ‘growing exponentially’.
