In a move which will result in reduction of IT costs and more efficient use of IT resources, Pegasus Solutions is to deploy Azul compute pools to obtain the scalability and cost benefits that can be provided by network attached processing.

By leveraging Azul Compute Appliances, the world’s largest processor-count symmetric multiprocessing systems (SMP), Pegasus will be able to run its critical transaction processing system on fewer, less expensive servers. Pegasus stated that alternative technologies, such as network attached processing by Azul, “provide operational efficiencies not present in traditional data center operations today.” It also added that the Network attached processing is expected to allow its services to scale beyond the current industry norms.

Dennis Law, senior vice president product management at Pegasus said that the innovative technology developed by Azul will help the company to meet “the ballooning demand of hospitality customers around the world with far greater predictability, efficiency and control over costs resulting in a greater level of performance.”

"With more than one billion inquiries and transactions every month, the volume of traffic puts a significant load on the Pegasus infrastructure. As it experiences exponentially growing look-to-book ratios, Pegasus Solutions represents one of the highest volume online transaction processing systems in the world. "Look-to-book" is a travel industry metric which refers to the average number of queries by customers compared to the number of actual bookings,” said the company.

Stephen DeWitt, president and chief executive officer at Azul Systems, said, “Azul compute pools provide unprecedented amounts of predictable compute power, making it easy for Pegasus to seamlessly scale its services to ensure that customers receive reliable, consistent service no matter how busy the travel season.”
