Online travel community VirtualTourist.com has chosen to deploy the Gomez ExperienceFirst platform.

VirtualTourist is using using Gomez's software-as-a-service solutions to test and monitor its web applications, ensuring a quality web experience for over six million travelers who use its website monthly.

The website, which features more than 1.6 million user-generated travel reviews and three million photos on more than 58,000 destinations worldwide, says it important to monitor the performance of the VirtualTourist website from as close as possible to its end-users, rather than behind the firewall. So it selected Gomez's Active Network XF and Active Last Mile XF solutions to test its website from more than 100 globally-located Internet backbone nodes, and from more than 40,000 end-user desktops at different connection speeds, ISPs, and geographies.

"As a popular website with traffic and user-generated travel content from every corner of the planet and a high ratio of third party content embedded into our pages, the Gomez products are an invaluable tool in making sure we deliver according to our own and our customers' expectations," said Tilman Reissfelder, VirtualTourist's chief technology officer.

"Gomez helps us to quantify our performance and control the user experience no matter how far from our home base -- not only in initial optimisation, but as an ongoing commitment. The Gomez products offer us a level of analysis and insight that we did not see from any other solution we used in the past," said Reissfelder.
