As the concept of desktop comparative shopping continues to gain popularity, an emergence of branded desktop marketing applications being deployed by leading online merchants as customer loyalt

Commenting on the future possibilities, Eliraz told EyeforTravel.com’s Ritesh Gupta: “We’ve already seen the beginning of (branded desktop marketing applications) this with Southwest’s DING application being heavily promoted online and on television, as well as Virgin Atlantic’s new Desktop Alert application.”

On its part, SmartShopper.com, in conjunction with uBid.com Holdings, Inc., had recently launched uBidShopper, a new, downloadable, comparison shopping software service designed for uBid.com customers. uBidShopper is based on SmartShopper.com’s proprietary comparison shopping tool.

“The uBidShopper is the perfect desktop marketing tool, enabling uBid.com to extend and deepen customer relationships. Today, companies need more intuitive tools to allow them to stay connected to customers longer and offer real user benefits as well,” Eliraz had said.

On progress made by SmartShopper Personal Comparison Shopping Tool, Eliraz says, “We measure ourselves by the accuracy of the service we give our users. This is the number one benchmark our product teams look at, and we set our goals by these standards – as we are always improving the overall user experience. Since SmartShopper launched, we’ve seen a number of competitors, both start-ups and well-backed players, focusing on desktop comparison shopping and populating the space. Most of them have concentrated their efforts strictly on price comparison, and less on providing an enriched shopping experience with additional complimentary content and useful information.”

SmartShoppers’ plans are to provide an always-improving user experience.

“As such, we intend to constantly release new and useful product features and to sign additional content and distribution agreements,” Eliraz says.
